About the Network

Facilitated by KnowledgeWorks, Lead for Learners is a national network of educators dedicated to systems transformation through personalized, competency-based learning.

Our vision

A future of learning where students of all races and ethnicities, incomes and identities pursue the kinds of learning experiences that enable them to uncover their passions and thrive in an evolving world.

What we do

Grown out of collaborative design with district, school and classroom-level leaders, Lead for Learners focuses on supporting learner-centered systems change that is equitable and sustainable through:

Together, we believe:

  • All students can learn and deserve:
    • To have a voice in their education and make choices about how and when they demonstrate their learning
    • High expectations for achievement
    • Encouragement to be curious and develop a lifelong love of learning
    • To love and understand themselves as individuals
  • As a community, we will evolve and grow together as new ideas, insights, research and strategies emerge
  • Learning is a collaborative process that begins with the “why”
  • Educators are also learners and deserve inclusive access to professional learning opportunities that meets them where they are and moves forward with purpose toward intentional outcomes
  • All educators are leaders and can drive transformation

For educators. By educators.

Now connecting more than 600 educators nationwide, KnowledgeWorks is building a stronger and more robust network to support the growing national momentum for personalized, competency-based learning.

Since 2020, KnowledgeWorks has convened educators from across the country to co-design programs and peer-to-peer learning opportunities to support local education transformation. Through our steering committee, educator facilitator roles and network working groups, KnowledgeWorks is committed to ensuring that Lead for Learners remains educator-driven.
