Want to get involved in shaping leadership development supports for learner-centered educators? KnowledgeWorks and the Lead for Learners network steering committee are now recruiting teacher leaders, instructional coaches, district administrators and other professional learning leaders to join our 2025-26 leadership development and learning working group.

What does the leadership development and learning working group do?

Members of the leadership development and learning working group work alongside the Lead for Learners steering committee and the KnowledgeWorks team to:

  • Advise on professional development programming and leadership development resources for educators leading personalized, competency-based learning transformation
  • Contribute to the development of leadership competencies and rubrics to help educators develop the knowledge, skills and mindsets prioritized in the Portrait of a Leader
  • Act as ambassadors for the Lead for Learners network to connect more educators with the Portrait of a Leader, accompanying resources and related professional learning opportunities

What is the commitment?

Members of the 2025-26 leadership development and learning working group will participate in:

  • Six, two-hour virtual meetings tentatively scheduled for October 2025, November 2025, January 2026, February 2026, March 2026 and May 2026.
  • Online discussions and periodic feedback requests via the Lead for Learners online community

How will working group members benefit?

  • Contribute to the development of new resources and programs
  • Connections with a national network of peers who are advancing learner-centered change through personalized, competency-based learning
  • Lead for Learners network apparel

Who should apply?

Ideal working group members will have:

  • At least three years of experience working in or supporting a school, district or state that is pursuing sustainable education systems change through personalized, competency-based learning.
  • Recent experience working in teacher leadership, instructional coaching, school leadership, district administration or other professional learning roles focused on helping educators implement learner-centered practices.
