Join a Lead for Learners Working Group

KnowledgeWorks and the Lead for Learners Steering Committee are now recruiting educators to participate in two new working groups. This is a great way to get involved in shaping the future of the Lead for Learners network by collaborating on national advocacy issues and leadership development supports for learner-centered educators.

Leadership Development and Learning Working Group

Are you a teacher leader, instructional coach, school-level leader, district administrator or other instructional leader passionate about professional learning for those leading personalized learning transformation?

If this is you, KnowledgeWorks and the Lead for Learners Steering Committee invites you to join the Leadership Development and Learning Working Group.

What will this Working Group do?

  • Co-design collaboration structures
  • Advise on the design of professional learning and peer-to-peer learning opportunities and resources
  • Capture insights to support the network’s Portrait of a Leader project
  • Periodically review Lead for Learners program priorities and deliverables to ensure continual alignment with the network vision and educator needs
  • Prioritize actions and recommendations that address the needs and concerns of historically marginalized communities, centering their voices and experiences in decision-making processes.

Anticipated commitments:

  • Four two-hour virtual meetings in October 2024, January 2024, April 2025 and June 2025
  • Periodic asynchronous collaboration via the Lead for Learners online community

  • Free Lead for Learners Network apparel and public recognition from KnowledgeWorks
  • Opportunities to connect and learn with peers working to implement personalized, competency-based learning
  • Contribute to the development of new resources and programs

Advocacy Working Group

Are you working to create a more equitable, learner-centered education system in your community? Passionate about advocating for mindset shifts and policy change? 

If this is you, KnowledgeWorks and the Lead for Learners Steering Committee invites you to join the Advocacy Working Group. 

What will this Working Group do?

  • Collaboratively design and develop advocacy campaigns and initiatives aimed at promoting the adoption and expansion of personalized, competency-based learning systems.
  • Prioritize actions and recommendations that specifically address the needs and concerns of historically marginalized communities, ensuring their voices and experiences are central to decision-making processes.
  • Leverage proven advocacy methods, including power mapping, sphere of influence analysis, leadership development and landscape analysis.
  • Develop structures that sustain and support ongoing advocacy efforts, fostering long-term impact and engagement within the network.
  • Regularly review advocacy priorities and deliverables to ensure ongoing alignment with the network’s vision and the needs of educators, while monitoring progress and impact.
